Last Sunday's Message, April 19: "Encountering Jesus on Our Life's Journey" based on Luke 24:13-35 deals with one of Jesus' post resurrection accounts. Jesus encounters two disciples on their way out of Jerusalem on a road to their home in Emmaus. They are in a place of despair, disappointment and discouragement assuming their leader, Jesus, was decaying in a borrowed tomb. However, were they in for a surprise when they encountered the resurrected Christ that day. This message will be a tremendous encouragement knowing that Jesus still encounters His folllowers--and yes, even when we are in despair, discouraged and disappointed in our life.
Next Sunday's Message, April 26: "Getting Real and Confronting our Hurts" based on Psalm 42. This is a follow-up message from last week. The real question that needs to be answered is: Does depression and discouragement ever affect a true believer? Has the Church over the years promoted an unspoken message or idea that if a person is depressed and discouraged he or she must be lacking in faith? Well, this Sunday we will draw from a text written by one of the giants of the Bible, King David, who clearly struggled with these symptoms in his life. However, we won't remain there and review the promises of God that wants to help us rise above such circumstances. Plan to come out and bring a friend--this message may just be the word that gets you over the hump and on your way to a joy-filled life.
